Dockers X The Selby

image043

We have already talked about THE SELBY, this brilliant photographer who goes into people’s lives (actually their homes) and captures the unique intimacy of creators or artists.

In The States, Dockers recently partnered with The Selby for an interesting series of portraits. The result is a great footage of both videos and photos.

As always, you can recognize the light and yellowish brightness in the Selby’s photographs. The characters pictured are from the Bay Area in San Francisco. The clothes are a mix of Made in the States collection and SS11.

Fashion Illlustrators

image052

You have probably seen their drawings/illustrations already as they are increasingly featured in Fashion/Lifestyle magazines. They are the “third way” besides photography and film and enable to bring a slightly different vision on Fashion.

First one we wanted to talk about is the UNKNOWN HIPSTER. This french guy, exiled in New York, has managed to build a strong invisible footprint with signature illustrations immediately recognisable. He documents a gentleman’s journey with humour soaked in dandyism.

The next one we wanted to talk about is JOHN WOO(careful, not the “Face off” director!). Born in Hong kong as well though, his call is to dress high profile cinema characters ( with particular accent on Star Wars) with runway fashion. I bet we are going to see him around a lot. It makes the whole runway thing feel a bit more relaxed and somewhat funny/stupid.

Khaki: A Definition

“The word Khaki derives from the Urdu word “khāki,” meaning “dusty,” and from the Persian word “khak,” meaning “dust”. The very essence of Khaki and what it means still resonates through my research and initial designs. Khaki can often seem to appear like ancient parchment paper, especially when combined and worn together tone-on-tone. One can almost smell the richness of history in the material of the Khaki cloth”.
